In 1989 the "Festival de las Artes" was organized for the first time, since 1992 it took place every year. The festival includes the following activities: concerts, theater, cinema, art fairs, exhibitions, activities for kids and much more.

The festival takes place at different locations in San Jose: Sabana Park, Museo Calderon Guardia, Teatro 1887 Teatro Nacional, University UACA, Teatro de la Aduana, Museo de Arte Costaricense, Teatro Popular Melico Salazar, cinema in Outlett Mall, ...

Dances, theater, concerts, games for kids, movies and exhibitions are part of the daily program.
